Head Office Offers of help:

DC reported that Craig is trying to negotiate a deal with Titlist to supply the RMs with a reduction of costs on golf prizes and requested that the RMs supplied him with a list of potential requirements.

The Committee felt that the attendees at the Regional Meetings didn’t wish to win golf items and were happy with the wine and gin that was supplied free of charge by another sponsor.

It was also felt that the Clubs that host the events are generous enough with the pricing they offer and that buying items at their Pro Shop prices was something the region could give back to the Club in question.

Gavin had mailed all the RMs a list of educational subjects that he was pulling together to organise half day education slots for the Club Managers. Gavin had offered that these slots would be for a half day (4 hours) and a cost would need to be levied at the Club Managers at say £15.00 per person to attend.

The Committee supported the initiative, however, felt the timing was not right as most managers would not give up their stretched time as they struggled with the closure and potential reopening of Courses and Clubhouse. There was also a great deal of Covid-19 legislation which is changing on a daily basis which managers are trying to cope with.

It was also felt that some of the subjects and speakers could be shared with other local regions to maximise attendance, as and when the time is right.

Captains term in office:

The Committee discussed what action they were taking in their own Clubs re the term of office that their Club Captains were doing in this difficult year.

It was noted that in the industry most Club Captains would be rolling over their Captaincy year through 2021.

Our Regions Captain was asked if he would wish to do the same, to which he agreed and Stephen Bryan agreed for a second year of being the Vice-Captain.

Therefore, Paul would remain as Captain until Spring 2022 and then Stephen will take over, subject to be voted in at the 2022 AGM.

National Golf Day:

This event is being held at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club and now deferred to Thursday 17th September, sign up will be via the GCMA website.

2021 Fixtures:

DC had previously sent out the proposed fixture list for 2021 following discussions with the various Clubs and Regional Managers that are involved. The Committee reviewed the dates and venues and look forward to the regional matches and the various fixtures that have been offered for the 2021 regional meetings.

It was also noted that a Business Meeting was to be held in 2021 and it had been arranged to take place at Old Fold Manor, further details to follow.
