Captains Day 2019

What a fantastic day we had at Northwood Golf Club on Thursday 18th July.

On a glorious summer day in bright warm sunshine forty-eight Club Managers and their guests gathered at Northwood, to be greeted by a vast array of a sumptuous break brunch, accompanied by Bucks Fizz and lashings of tea and coffee.

We ventured out on a two tee start and where met by St Austell Breweries how provided some Cornish alcoholic refreshments which were most welcome and a large number were consumed.

Upon return and completing a very enjoyable round of golf we indulged in a very casual hot and cold summer buffet prepared and delivered to a very high standard. With poached salmon and lobster, lamb and vegetable curries a vast amount of salads followed by a beauty selection of desserts, there was plenty for all and everyone was impressed with the cuisine provided.

Following dinner, we were thoroughly entertained by Aaron James a stand-up comic who took the micky in a cheeky way out of most of the audience accompanied by some very funny jokes and one liners.

Aarons wit continued as he volunteered to join Captain Ray Grant as the presentations commenced.

Nearest the Pin with a Hickory Club – Peter Dickson Hendon Golf Club

Nearest the Pin on the 13th – Andrew Lawrence

Nearest the Pin on the 15th – Ray Grant

Best Front 9 went to – Mike and Tony Bailey

Best Back 9 went to – Samantha Kang and Michael Gottlieb

                                                                                                                The Main Prizes went to;

                                                                    In Third place with 42 points – Seb Frankiss and Bill Carey from Muswell Hill Golf Club

                                                                 In Second Place wining on count back – Richard Grun and Dave Penny from Northwood Golf Club

                                                                   First Place winners with 43 pts a home victory for our Captain, Ray Grant and Shelly Bansal

                                   A special mention must go to Jenny and all the team at Northwood who made Captain’s Invitation Day so special Thank you very much to you all.
