GCMA Chilterns and Home Countries

David Adams wins Spring Meeting Salver

David Adams, the General Manager at Dyrham Park Country Club, Barnet in Hertfordshire, wins the GCMA Chilterns and Home Counties Spring Meeting competition at Harpenden GC on Tuesday 10th May.   David, who was attending his first GCMA Chilterns Region meeting, had a slow start, but his storming back nine and managed to edge past the home GM, Tom Scott, on countback.

The day started with an update from GCMA CEO Tom Brooke and an excellent debate on golf club governance issues.   This was followed by a very relevant presentation from Matt Draper of England Golf on the results of their recent surveys, along with news of the work they are currently undertaking on  equality, diversion and inclusion within golf.

To conclude the morning's business session, former Woburn GC Managing Director Eddie Bullock gave a presentation on golf club culture, and how managers can affect the culture of the clubs they work in, and help their colleagues understand the culture of the club.

After golf, the day was concluded in fine style with a wonderful three-course dinner at which the Harpenden Head Chef Darren and his team excelled themselves with a superb meal, worthy of any of the finest restaurants in London.  "The best meal I have ever had at a golf club" said Chilterns Region Captain Stephen Bryan.   Our thanks to everyone at Harpenden Golf Club for hosting our day.
